Duration
2 DaysDescription
The Volcano Overview course was developed to help you understand the Volcano correct-by-construction approach to the timing of in-vehicle signals. The concept covers in-vehicle networks and the software that controls them.
Detailed lab exercises help reinforce what is discussed during the lectures and provide you with extensive tool usage experience under the guidance of our industry expert instructors.
You will learn how to
- Understand in-car communication concepts and issues
- Understand how the Volcano concept addresses these issues
- Understand the various elements of the Volcano tool chain (VNA, VTP)
- Work with Volcano
- Understand in-car network protocols
- Apply the Volcano timing model to in-car communication
- Build a system from start to output generation
- Write an application and debug it in hardware
- Implement simple diagnostics
Hands-On Labs
Roughly half of the time is spent on practical exercises in our demonstration lab with 4 development stations where the VNA and the VTP are run. The VTP exercises use IAR C-Compiler, Star12-based ECU and IAR C-Spy debugger where the participants write small programs that communicate by using VTP. The VNA exercise involves creating a small network from scratch until generation of a network configuration.
Audience
This class is intended for persons that are involved in projects using the Volcano tool chain. The class is suitable for component owners, function owners, new signal database engineers and anyone else that needs to get and good an thorough overview of the Volcano Concept and the tools.
Prerequisites
The participants are assumed to have basic skills in a high level programming language, preferably 'C'.
programming language.
