Child Development Center (CDC)

The Mentor Graphics Child Development Center (CDC) on the campus of our Wilsonville headquarters is a model program for early childhood and family support. Both full- and part-time enrollment are available to the children and grandchildren of Mentor Graphics employees and families in the greater Portland community.

The CDC offers an outstanding environment with attention to small groups and routines of care. It features an innovative project-based curriculum and low child-to-teacher ratios for children of birth through preschool age.

Open year-round, the CDC has been responsive to the unique needs of young children and working parents since 1992.

Mentor provides generous financial support to ensure program quality. As an example, professional development funding keeps the CDC staffed with highly qualified educators who continually improve their skills.

Facility

The 15,600-square-foot CDC building is roomy yet home-like with cozy spaces and alcoves ideal for teachers working with small groups of children. Its 7 classrooms and 2 studio spaces serve 90 children and their families per day.

The CDC’s play yard, over three-quarters of an acre, takes advantage of the natural wooded setting of the campus and affords a balance of developed and natural space.

Mission statement:

It is our mission to make a difference in the lives of children by being a leader in the implementation and modeling of a high quality, innovative and creative early childhood program; and to respond to the broader, contemporary family needs of CDC families.

Licensing and Accreditation

The CDC is licensed by the State of Oregon through the Oregon Child Care Division and is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators. Only about 8% of all programs for children achieve their rigorous standards.

The experience and education of CDC staff meet or exceed requirements for teachers in the field of Early Childhood.

The school for young children is extremely important to our understanding of certain factors including, what kind of future will we build for the children and with the children.”
