Accelerated Technology Adds Nucleus RTOS Support for Analog Device's Dual-Core Blackfin ADSP-BF561

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Francisco, Calif., Mar. 8, 2005 - Accelerated Technology{reg}, a Mentor Graphics division (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced the release of the Nucleus{reg} Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) for the dual-core Blackfin ADSP-BF561 processor from Analog Devices, Inc (ADI). Embedded developers using the ADSP-BF561 processor now have a royalty-free solution in which to build a variety of applications including digital still and digital video cameras, portable media players, digital video recorders, set-top boxes, consumer multimedia, automotive vision systems and broadband wireless systems. For more information on the Nucleus software and ADSP-BF561 solution, please visit the Analog Devices booth #1102 at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco for a live demonstration beginning March 9. Also, an Accelerated Technology representative will be giving a short presentation in ADI's booth regarding the Nucleus RTOS and Blackfin Processor comprehensive solution.

A member of ADI's Blackfin Processor family, the ADSP-BF561 processor is designed specifically to meet the computational demands and power constraints of today's embedded audio, video and communications applications. The ADSP-BF561 processor provides high optimization to complement the scalable and fast Nucleus RTOS, giving users a powerful solution for the development of their multimedia and telecommunications devices. Other Nucleus software components available to ADSP-BF561 processor developers include the Nucleus InterProcess Communication (IPC) software and the Nucleus FILE file management software.

"Analog Devices is pleased that Accelerated Technology has extended its support of the Blackfin architecture by porting the Nucleus RTOS to the ADSP-BF561 processor," said Gerald McGuire, general manager, Media Platforms and Services Group, Analog Devices, Inc. "As time to market is a key element for today's product developers, the availability of this efficient, real-time operating system allows our mutual customers to quickly deliver robust embedded applications."

"This release of the Nucleus RTOS for the ADSP-BF561 processor, the latest in a number of Blackfin ports to the Nucleus software, emphasizes our commitment to the needs of embedded developers in this feature-intensive, multimedia market," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Mentor Graphics Embedded Systems Division. "The addition of our Nucleus IPC software allows users to have the same Nucleus RTOS API on each processor in their system and offers easy inter-processor communication."

Pricing and Availability

The Nucleus embedded software is sold with source code and without royalty fees. Licenses for the Nucleus software begin at $12,495. For more information, please contact Accelerated Technology at 800-468-6853.
