VDC Research Selects Mentor Graphics Sourcery CodeBench with System Analyzer Technology for “Embeddy” Best Software Product Award at ESC Silicon Valley 2011

WILSONVILLE, Ore., May 11, 2011 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that VDC Research has selected the Mentor® Embedded Sourcery™ CodeBench with Sourcery System Analyzer technology as this year’s “Embeddy” Award for Best Software Product, presented at ESC Silicon Valley on May 4, 2011. The Sourcery System Analyzer product, announced last week at ESC, is a specialized tool that helps embedded developers quickly visualize and analyze system data, locating bottlenecks to debug or decode problem areas easily and improve design performance.

VDC Research “Embeddy” Award nominees are evaluated on specific criteria: corporate, technological and industry significance and availability, with the selection of an overall “best-in-show” winner for a hardware and software product.

“Mentor Graphics announced the availability of a new tool suite, their Embedded Sourcery CodeBench development environment that includes their Sourcery Systems Analyzer product,” said Chris Rommel, senior analyst, VDC Research Group. “Of particular note, this new feature was developed by leveraging technology that was originally targeted at silicon design and one that VDC expects will be increasingly useful as more embedded designs adopt more complex architectures, resulting in VDC’s selection as the Embeddy best of show winner for software at the 2011 Embedded Systems Conference/Silicon Valley.”

“We are honored to receive VDC’s Embeddy Award for our new Sourcery System Analyzer tool, a unique and productive technology for the embedded community,” said Glenn Perry, general manager, Mentor Graphics’ Embedded Software Division. “The visualization of system behavior is essential for debugging and optimizing modern multi-core SoCs. Combined with open source-based tools like Sourcery CodeBench, it enables developers to build, debug, and optimize complex embedded systems.”

The Sourcery System Analyzer product is significant because it allows software developers to visualize large amounts of data and also correlate the data with specific system behaviors and events. This is a critical and unique technology for multicore development, debugging, and optimization.
