Mentor Graphics provides TSMC-qualified process design kit for 0.13 micron mixed-mode and RF designWilsonville, Ore., and Hsinchu, Taiwan, Nov. 30, 2006 – Mentor Graphics (NASQ: MENT) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TAIEX: 2330, NYSE: TSM), today announced the release of foundry-qualified process design kits (Mentor-PDKs) that support Mentor’s custom/mixed-signal IC design flow.
TSMC has provided foundry-qualified DRC, LVS, and parasitic extraction rule decks qualified for Mentor Graphics Calibre® physical verification product, as well as Spice models for Mentor’s Eldo® Spice simulator. And now, starting with this latest release of the 0.13µ (micron) mixed-mode and RF Mentor-PDK for TSMC’s CR013G process, TSMC now supports Mentor Graphics IC studio custom/mixed-signal IC design flow. This kit now includes symbol library for Design Architect®-IC schematic capture and parameterized layout generators for IC Station® layout editor. This complete Mentor-PDK has been pre-qualified with the TSMC process. Design kits for the 90nm and 65nm nodes are currently being developed.

Among many users of this CR013G Mentor-PDK is MediaPhy, a fables semiconductor company developing next generation solutions for global mobile media applications. MediaPhy has been an early adopter of this kit since its alpha and beta stages.

New Mentor IC studio Design Platform
Mentor’s new IC studio design environment integrates all of Mentor Graphics custom-IC design tools into a seamless flow that enables designers to quickly and accurately conceptualize, capture, simulate, layout, and verify the most challenging of custom, analog, RF, and mixed-signal designs. Prominent design capture tools in the ICstudio environment include Design Architect-IC, a powerful schematic capture, netlisting, and simulation control cockpit, and IC Station®, Mentor’s connectivity-driven layout editor and chip assembly tool. These capture tools integrate tightly with Mentor’s best-in-class Calibre verification platform and Eldo and ADvance®MS simulation tools to provide a cohesive front-to-back IC design flow. About the new 0.13m Mixed-Mode RF design kit
This new design kit contains all the basic components necessary to kick off a production design project with Mentor’s IC Flow. It includes schematic symbols for DA-IC with their netlist control files, and parameterized device generators for automatic and correct-by-construction device layout in IC Station. It also contains the TSMC-supplied Calibre rule decks and Eldo Spice models. Customers who download this kit can jump start their design process with the added confidence that together with a tightly integrated flow, they have a design kit that complies with TSMC’s manufacturing process.
