Product Description
Faster data rates drive the need for accurate electromagnetic models for multi-gigabit serial data channels. Both early exploration of the interconnect budget and channel verification require frequency-dependent ultra-broadband RLGC models for transmission lines and S-parameter models for via holes extracted with a 3D full-wave electromagnetic simulator. Simbeor™ 2007 is a tool to produce such 3D full-wave models for multi-gigabit data channels. Without these advanced models, a channel design may require experimental verification and iterations to improve overall performance, adding delays and increased costs to the project.
Simbeor™ 2007 is an integrated graphical environment with a 3D full-wave field solver for analysis of multiconductor interconnects in multilayered media with broadband causal dielectrics, metal interior and surface roughness loss and dispersion models. The electromagnetic simulator extracts modal propagation constants and characteristic impedances and frequency-dependent RLGC per unit length matrix parameters of transmission lines as well as S-parameters of discontinuities.
All problem description data and simulation results in Simbeor™2007 are stored in xml format. A solution explorer allows the user to create and to edit the problem description data with multiple wizards, dialogs and interactive geometry 3D view and graphs. This approach allows for an easy-to-learn intuitive “try-and-see” editing environment. The number of actions from an empty project through to results is highly minimized, and most setups related to computational models are automatic for the user. In addition, data can be reviewed and edited directly in xml-format by an experienced user. Cut/Copy/Paste and other editing operations on tree provide for quick reuse of old projects, and sub-projects and support fast prototyping for what-if experiments.

Integration with HyperLynx and Eldo
Simbeor™ 2007 is designed to support de-compositional analysis of interconnects. It is interfaced to HyperLynx and Eldo with SPICE W-element model files with frequency-dependent RLGC data for transmission lines and Touchstone files with S-parameters for via-holes.
