Omnify Enterprise Suite

Product Description

Omnify Software is a leading provider of business-ready product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for small to mid-size electronic, medical, mechanical, and defense manufacturers. Omnify helps OEMs streamline development cycles, accelerate product innovation and improve bottom-line profitability. Our commitment to customer success has resulted in a solution that is easy to use, quick to implement and provides an open integration platform for out-of-the-box, bi-directional interfaces with engineering (Mentor) and business systems. Omnify offers a single environment to manage product data and streamline product development processes across the enterprise.

The Omnify Enterprise Suite enhances the design and manufacturing collaboration process by providing a complete view of the product development process throughout the entire enterprise. It allows OEMs to perform all of the necessary tasks to develop their product from concept to production to support, within a single database. The Omnify Enterprise Suite provides a unified system to manage parts, bill of materials, engineering changes, documentation, and compliance information.

Key Omnify Enterprise Suite functions include: component data management, BOM management, ECO management, new part request processing, change history tracking, and bi-directional interfaces with engineering and business systems. The Enterprise Suite is fully customizable, allowing users to define roles and privileges, part numbering schemes, workflows and more.

Description of Integration

OmniDX Interface

OmniDX offers a seamless interface between the Omnify PLM system and Mentor’s DXDesigner/DXDatabook products. OmniDX allows for bi-directional sharing of information between the Omnify database and Mentor engineering design tools.

The OmniDX Interface provides engineers with the ability to configure component data views of the Omnify database that DXDatabook connects to directly via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC). Without leaving the Mentor environment engineers use DXDatabook to browse the Omnify database directly to access all part data such as: attributes, documents, datasheets, and vendor information, “where used”, part history/changes, and apply attributes to schematics.

Since the Omnify PLM system is used by all groups in the organization, such as Operations, Documentation Control/Configuration Management, Manufacturing Groups, and Test/QA, the Engineering group is not required to manage a separate database.

Omnify provides users with the ability to have an unlimited number of user-defined attributes. These attributes can represent all of the common engineering parameters as well as business level data such as, cost, lead times, status, “where used”, availability, etc. Mentor users have access to all of the “extended data”, thus, helping to improve the design decision-making process.

Leveraging DXDatabook’s ability to query ODBC databases, Omnify requires no additional software to be loaded on the engineer’s desktop, and no customization to their existing DXDatabook/DXDesigner environment.

Another component of the OmniDX interface is the Engineering Sandbox. The Engineering Sandbox provides engineers with an environment to:

  • Analyze engineering data prior to releasing final BOMs and documentation (schematics, PCB files, etc.)
    • Verify new parts have been requested and view their signoff status
    • Produce reports and check data
      • Cost Analysis, Part Availability, Inventory, etc.
  • Manage prototype BOM revisions
  • Generate BOMs before design is complete (or even started)
  • “Finalize” the Bill of Materials
    • Automatically include additional items, such as Heat Sinks, Sockets, and mechanical parts
    • Automatically disable/remove BOM items
    • Automatically create BOM variances
    • Merge Electrical and Mechanical BOMS

Omnify’s bi-directional integration with the Mentor design environment offers a solution to simplify component data and library management by offering the ability to:

  • Read BOMs and Released Design Documentation from DXDesigner into the Omnify Database
  • Access part data through a live data connection
    • Attributes, Documents/Datasheets, Vendor Information
    • Business data: Costs, Lead Times, Inventory, Status
    • Extended data: “Where Used”, change history, signoff
  • Manage all ‘released’ documents
    • Schematics, Assembly Drawings, PCB Files,
    • Gerber/Manufacturing files, Datasheets, etc.
  • View all data on Omnify Items via AutoDocs Technology without logging into the system (Web Link)
