Product Description
Pro/ENGINEER is a parametric, feature-based solid modeling product family which integrates the entire design through manufacturing process. It operates from a single data structure which provides bi-directional associativity throughout all of the engineering deliverables that are generated during the design through manufacturing process. The heart of the product family, Pro/ENGINEER provides the tools required to create parametric, feature-based, solid models of parts and assemblies and associated drawings.

Pro/ECAD is an optional module which links the design efforts of the mechanical and electrical design industries. It provides for the direct exchange of information between Pro/ ENGINEER and Mentor Graphics' Board Station software. Mutually supported information such as the board outline, keep-out and height restriction areas, component shapes and locations, etc. can be exchanged between systems in both directions. Pro/ECAD is flexible, allowing users to design and maintain the PCBs and components in either Pro/ENGINEER or Board Station and transfer the information in either direction. Pro/ECAD saves time and costs by permitting products with both mechanical and electrical components to be developed concurrently.

Pro/CABLING is an optional module which provides a comprehensive package of cable routing functionality to fully design 3D cable that links the harness in Pro/ENGINEER assemblies. A new interface that links the mechanical and electrical wire harness design disciplines has been developed. Specifically, the new interface ensures that electrical information defined in Mentor Graphics' Logical Cable such as connectors, pins, and wires, can be used to drive the physical layout of the wire harness in Pro/CABLING. Likewise, attributes of the wires such as length, thickness, and minimum bend radius can be exported back to Logical Cable and used to perform analyses such as signal tracing and voltage drop calculations. The transfer of data electronically via the Pro/CABLING-Logical Cable Interface provides for a logical flow from conceptual design through physical routing and analysis, to final documentation and fabrication of the design.

Description of Integration
Pro/ECAD is an optional design module that provides a bi-directional interface to Mentor Graphics' Board Station software through Mentor Graphics' PCB Mechanical Interface. The type of data which can be transferred includes:

• 2 dimensional printed circuit board outline
• board edge connectors and key ways
• mounting and alignment hole position and housing
• 2 dimensional cut out areas for large components and housing
• keep out areas where routing will not occur
• height restriction areas

Pro/CABLING is an optional module that provides a bi-directional interface to Mentor Graphics' Logical Cable Interface. The type of data exchangeable includes:

• electrical information defined in 2D such as connectivity and wire attributes
• physical information captured
