Laker is the next generation full custom layout tool. It contains the full-fledged classical polygon editing features to provide the complete flexibility and controllability, yet it offers many intelligent guidance aspects coupled with automation to make the layout creation and editing tasks much more efficient and productive. With Laker, users can complete the layout and achieve the desired density and quality 2 to 6 times faster than if using other layout editors. Laker's environmental specific use models and powerful editing capabilities are based on a high performance and optimized 64-bit database engine, which makes all layout operations, including data translation, editing and viewing, very efficient and intuitive.

Laker is an open system and supports the industry standard command language Tcl with extensions for tool customization, database query, and various daily routine tasks. Laker tightly integrates its verification explorer interface module with popular DRC tools including Mentor Graphics Calibre.
