Latency: A discussion by Industry experts on the HW and SW considerations for embedded devices

There was a recent discussion by a number of industry experts on “Latency”. It was an interesting read as the perspective of a hardware designer and software developer are very different. In the end the embedded system has to perform the function it’s intended for so the end system developer has to consider both HW and SW. This “Experts At the Table” series included the following people:

  • Chris Rowen, CTO at Tensilica
  • Andrew Caples, senior product manager for the Nucleus RTOS in the Embedded Software Division of Mentor Graphics
  • Drew Wingard, CTO at Sonics
  • Larry Hudepohl, vice president of hardware engineering at MIPS
  • Barry Pangrle, senior power methodology engineer at Nvidia

Excerpts from the discussion are posted here:

MIPS, Nucleus ROTS, latency, Nvidia, Tensilica

Could you provide Andrew Caples email address to me? I attended Mentor’s Smart Energy Market Trends webinar this morning and would like to ask ssome questions. We, www.iconlabs.com, is an OEM software security company that supports embedded devices with its Floodgate family of firewall and encryption products. Our Floodgate provides a later of security that is typically missing in today’s embedded systems that protect OEMS and end users from network attack. Please provide Andrew's contact information.
