Nucleus Innovate Program Customer Highlight: SEVENEY

SeveneyLogoSEVENEY Technology was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Paris, France. SEVENEY mainly addresses to the markets in the field of Defense & Aeronautics, Telecommunications, Transportation, Energy & Industry, Network & Security and Microelectronics. SEVENEY is thus a key player in the field of high end security and critical systems at national and international levels. SEVENEY Technology produces a handful of NFC and RFID readers in various options.  SEVENEY found the Nucleus Innovate Program offer applicable to their development requirements given free access to the software, the stability of the Nucleus RTOS and the selection of MCU devices available in the program.  Near field communication (NFC) technologies have been around for years and with the IoT explosion that’s upon us, NFC and RFID technologies will continue to become predominate in making our technology connections and communications more efficient.

SEVENEY’s current product is called the Smifare III, which is a contactless universal reader based on NFC / RFID technologies.  The reader can support several application types, such as but not limited to:  Access Control, Car Sharing, Electronic Ticketing, Loyalty Card, Electronic Wallet and so on.  The Smifare III device offers a number of interfaces available to their customers:  RS232/RS485/RS422/TTL Serial, USB V2.0, BUS CAN 2.0B, Ethernet 10/100 Mbps, WiFi 802.11b / g, Bluetooth v2.0 HID Class 1 (iOS / ANDROID).  The image below is the current version of the Smifare III, which will be upgraded later this year.

Seveney RFIDThe new version (Smifare IV) of the SEVENEY NFC reader will likely run a popular microcontroller based on an ARM Ltd Cortex M4 MCU device.   For SEVENEY, the Nucleus RTOS is most appealing because of the tiny microkernel footprint, connectivity middleware and the Sourcery CodeBench tools that are fully integrated with Nucleus and offer advanced kernel aware debug features.  For more information on Smifare III and other SEVENEY Technology product, please visit:  http://www.seveney.com/index.php/produits/smifare-iii
