I’d like to highlight a recent Nucleus Innovate Program customer who’s taking advantage of the IoT with their supercool ECG/Heart Rate Zigbee Sensor. The company is called ZoVolt Ltd and they’re based in Hereford, UK. They specialize in IoT, Zigbee sensors and Cloud based data management. The flagship product is a wearable, wireless ECG sensor that sends vital heart data to the doctors’ mobile, tablet and PC – in real time. The lightweight ZoVolt device is pictured below:
The ZoVolt device will use a STMicroelectronics STM32 ARM micro-controller unit to handle analogue to digital converter tasks, digital signal filtering, security and communication with the low power wireless chip. ZoVolt will build a public-private key (PPK) security layer for authentication and provisioning as well as RESTful communication integrated with the Nucleus RTOS. Therefore, the device can implement a secure and robust communication with the Cloud. Using the Nucleus RTOS will speed up the development time of this true Internet-of-Things device and allow ZoVolt to create a more safe, configurable and maintainable application.
