Nucleus OS Supported Processors

Nucleus OS Supported Processor Families

Nucleus OS, a real time operating System (RTOS), has been ported to hundreds of different processors across various architectures including, but not limited to ARM, Freescale, MIPS, and IBM PowerPC.

ARM Processor Family

ARM - the architecture for the digital world While ARM’s 32-bit RISC architecture-based embedded microprocessors provide low power consumption and performance capabilities, these are further enhanced by Nucleus OS’ small foot print and minimal memory needs. Together, ARM’s family of processors and Nucleus RTOS are a perfect combination for mobile handsets and platforms as well as consumer electronics applications.

MIPS Processor Family

The MIPS-family of processors is based on a true RISC architecture that has minimal power needs and low heat characteristics. Coupled with Nucleus OS, the MIPS family of processors is an ideal choice for computer networking and telecommunications, arcade and console based video games, printers, digital television sets (DTV), setup-boxes (STB) and other consumer electronic devices.

PowerPC Processor Family

PowerPC microprocessors, embedded processors and cores can help you meet your specific design needs by powering everything from mainframes and enterprise-class servers, to handhelds and video-game consoles. The PowerPC architecture of products deliver excellent value, high performance and power optimization.

Nucleus OS takes advantage of PowerPC processor family’s exceptional performance and superb precision to provide embedded software solutions for automotive, consumer, networking, industrial and medical markets.

Freescale Processor Family

Nucleus OS takes advantage of Freescale ColdFire family of processors’ exceptional performance and one of the lowest power 32-bit MCU on the market today, making Nucleus OS an ideal choice for computer networking, telecommunications, security systems, and medical devices.

Texas Instruments (TI)

Texas Instruments (TI) is a global and digital semiconductor IC design and manufacturing company. In addition to analog technologies, digital signal processing (DSP) and microcontroller(MCU) semiconductors, TI designs and manufactures semiconductor solutions for analog and digital embedded and application processing. Nucleus OS, EDGE development tools and Inflexion UI offer extensive support for TI processors for consumer electronics products which allow these products to have greater performance.

Additional Processors Supported

Looking for other processor families? In addition to support for ARM, Feescale, MIPS and IBM PowerPC, Nucleus OS is available on many more processor families, including Altera Nios II, Xilinx MicroBlaze, Renasas SH, Infineon, Atmel AT91SAM, and others.
