Nucleus RTOS Platform Solutions for Freescale Boards
Freescale i.MX31 PDK
The Freescale i.MX31 PDK is based on its i.MX31 Multimedia Application Processors and is designed to jump start any wireless device running computationally intensive multimedia applications such as portable media players (PMP) or portable navigational devices. It is also ideally suited for any power hungry mobile application such as smartphones, digital video recorders and cameras, mobile gaming consoles, and other mobile wireless applications. The i.MX31 PDK provides an integrated hardware engine and robust software that enables development teams to focus on differentiating their IP for market success.
Freescale’s i.MX31 Multimedia Application Processor is based on the ARM1136™ core with L2 cache, vector floating point co-processor, Smart Speed switch as well as smart power management support. Its extensive peripheral set includes: USB Hi Speed On-The-Go (OTG), CSPIs, I2C, PCMCIA, ATA, UARTs for system connectivity, smart media with support for hardware accelerated MPEG4 encode and pre- and post-processing. Others include a display port for wide range support of popular displays as well as an on-board sensor port.
The Nucleus RTOS Platform Solution for the i.MX31 PDK takes advantage of the OpenGL/ES 3D graphics accelerator to produce state of the art 3D experiences for the end user.
If you have the i.MX31 PDK board then you can experience the Nucleus RTOS Platform Solution for Freescale running on your board within minutes. Click through to register and download the zip file containing the executable and instructions on how to get it running on your board.
There are two File Browser zip files that can be downloaded - the first turns your i.MX31 PDK into an interactive system which allows you to browse files and evaluate how compelling your application could become. The second zip file enables your board to cycle through the file browsing and different menu options automatically without the need for manual interaction.
Freescale i.MX27 ADS
The Freescale i.MX27 family of Multimedia Application Processors is designed to address today’s demanding design challenges in low-power and high-performance applications such as video- and voice-over-IP (V2IP) cordless and mobile phones, intelligent remote controls, point-of-sale terminals and many other wireless devices.
With its rich feature set, the i.MX27 is an excellent choice for design engineers tasked with pushing the performance envelope, packing in a large number of connectivity options while providing robust security in mobile device designs.
Derived from the popular i.MX21 processor and based on the ARM926EJ-S core, the i.MX27 processor adds an H.264 D1 hardware codec for high-resolution video processing, an Ethernet 10/100 MAC, security, plug-and-play connectivity and more power management features. Architected with Freescale’s Smart Speed™ technology, i.MX27 uses hardware accelerators to offload CPU and a crossbar switch to bring parallelism to the system. The result is a processor that performs like a much higher MHz device, but conserves power for long battery life.
