Last year, Mentor Embedded introduced Google’s Android to new semiconductor architectures and to new devices beyond the smartphones for which Android was originally intended. It was not a simple process. Significant optimizations and modifications were required to the Linux. kernel, the Dalvik Virtual Machine, libraries, and the application framework. Now, twelve months later, this session looks at what has improved, what has become mainstream, and what key challenges developers still face when building the next generation of Android-based devices.
What You Will Learn
- Key characteristics of Android and how these factors impact non-phone devices
- What has changed for the better and the key challenges that still remain
- How Mentor continues to play a key role in successful design and implementation
