Managing Over-The-Air Software Update and Management for Automotive Systems

Overview

Contemporary infotainment systems struggle to address the rapid changes seen in consumer electronics. As a means to remain relevant over the life of the vehicle, it is necessary to periodically update the software in the infotainment system, and other modules in the vehicle. This has historically been addressed through a visit to the dealer, and module replacement. We can expedite this process by taking advantage of wireless connectivity and using an Over-The-Air (OTA) approach to update software. This presentation will discuss approaches to implement and manage OTA, and in particular review the Arynga CarSync™ solution which has been integrated into the Mentor Graphics Automotive Technology Platform (ATP) for infotainment systems.

What You Will Learn

  • How Linux can be used as the basis for an infotainment application
  • Typical characteristics of an over-the-air update solution
  • Details of the Arynga CarSync solution

Who Should Attend

  • OEMs interested in deploying a software update strategy for post-production upgrades
  • Engineers and engineering managers experiencing requests for over-the-air software updates
  • Anyone involved with highly-connected automotive electronics systems, particularly those that can need to work cooperatively with consumer devices
