On-demand Web Seminar:Implementing Android Based Automotive Infotainment (IVI) Systems

Android has successfully been deployed in production infotainment (IVI) systems as the primary operating system and also in conjunction with another operating system. Learn about the market needs driving the adoption of Android and the technical options for incorporating Android into an IVI system. The options for in IVI systems includes porting Android to run directly on an SoC as the sole operating system, running Android in conjunction with another operating system such as Linux with use of a hypervisor, or making use of Android via a Linux Container. By attending this session you will be in a better position to select the right technical solution for your needs by understanding the differing development efforts and trade-offs in level of isolation and functionality each technical approach brings.

Event:Using Android in Automotive Systems with Linux Containers

Running Android in the automotive environment is associated with a number of constraints on the platform and the applications. Linux containers present one of the options of running Android on top of an automotive platform and offer some interesting interoperability possibilities. By attending this session you will be in a better position to understand challenges, technical possibilities and trade-offs when running Android on top of a “native” Linux platform (a GENIVI compliant stack in our example).

White Paper:How to Rapidly Create and Customize Compelling GUIs for Android-Based Devices

This paper takes a closer look at one available GUI technology that allows for the rapid creation and radical customization of a GUI in any Android-based device.

As the Android platform gains widespread adoption, it’s incumbent upon device manufacturers and network operators to find compelling and innovative new ways to differentiate one Android-based device from the other. Of course, there are the basic factors that influence the success of a handheld device such as price, functionality, ease-of-use, network carrier, and brand name recognition to name a few. But the device’s graphical user interface (GUI) also has a direct impact on its success or failure. Unfortunately, differentiating a GUI usually requires significant engineering investment and while the Android platform does offer basic GUI functionality, the platform doesn’t go far enough to facilitate a truly unique and one-of-a-kind user experience.

Android is a trademark of Google Inc.
On-demand Web Seminar:Managing Design Challenges for M2M Devices

During this session, we will discuss how M2M devices and wireless infrastructures are changing to collect and distribute information and design challenges associated with managing system resources and user applications, such as remote connectivity and data security. We’ll also take a look at companies like CCww, Wavesat and Enfora to understand how they are addressing these issues. Finally, we will approach how certification requirements can affect a device’s design and discuss the applicability of Android in M2M devices.
