Integrating Smart Devices into Linux-based Infotainment Systems

Overview

Car drivers and passengers increasingly expect to make use of their personal Smart Devices remotely controlled from the In-Vehicle Infotainment system (IVI).  Smart device capabilities such as personalized phone calling, music and media players, favorite apps, and 4G/LTE network access from the smart device can significantly enhance what is available from the pre-installed vehicle IVI system. 

This webinar will cover the available technologies that enable safe and feature-rich connection,  allowing the driver or passenger to operate the Smart Device using in-car controls.  The webinar will be presented jointly by RealVNC and Mentor Graphics.

About the Presenters

Presenter Image Andrew Patterson

Andrew Patterson is Business Development Director for Mentor Graphics embedded division, specializing in the automotive market. Prior to Mentor Andrew has spent over 20 years in the Design Automation market specializing in a wide range of technologies including wire harness design, automotive simulation model development, virtual prototyping, and mechatronics. Currently he is focused on working with the GENIVI industry alliance, and leading Mentor’s Infotainment and in-vehicle Electronic Cluster and Telematics solutions. Andrew holds a master’s degree in Engineering and Electrical Sciences from Cambridge University, UK.

Presenter Image Bruce Bye

Bruce has worked in the software industry for nearly two decades, working on a wide range of products from system admin configuration tools, to carrier grade telecoms equipment. He currently works in RealVNC's Mobile Solutions Pre-sales division. His responsibilities include assisting customers with their developments using the RealVNC Mobile Solution SDK, and building RealVNC's own demonstrator kits
