From wearable’s to smart appliances, the home area network will comprise a vast array of connected devices that will require protocol support for network insertion, device interaction and management that relieves the user from having to perform any network administrative functions. Depending on the specific embedded device different technologies may be appropriate to realize the potential of the Internet of Things (IOT). In this panel discussion we’ll cover the various system topologies ranging from personal area to wide area networks and wireless options such as ZigBee, Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi apply to each topology. We will focus specifically on applications where low energy Bluetooth is most appropriate and review how you can effectively design connected embedded devices that make use of BLE and the entire system for low power consumption.
