Technology Trends in Building Next Generation Portable Medical Devices
On-demand Web Seminar
ABSTRACT

This online presentation will illustrate recent technology trends impacting the design and utility of portable medical devices.
Overview
This presentation will illustrate recent technology trends impacting the design and utility of portable medical devices. The healthcare industry is characterized by changing demographics and cost cutting initiatives. But there still is a compelling need to improve quality of care, protect patient confidentiality and provide care beyond the classic sphere formal care facilities. To meet these demands medical device makers are employing new technologies (such as wireless 802.11) which allow medical care to be more mobile and affordable while handling ever increasing amounts of patient data.
What You Will Learn
- Recent trends in medical care (portability of care, privacy, costs, aging population)
- Key characteristics of the latest portable medical devices (size, power consumption, interfaces)
- Embedded technologies used to support these key characteristics and how connectivity is a central component
- What to expect in the future of evolution in medical devices
