Mentor Graphics’ Nucleus 802.11i Secures Wireless Networks for Embedded Systems Developers
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Jose, Calif., April 4, 2006 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that the Nucleus® 802.11i software is now available to developers requiring IEEE 802.11i, Wi-Fi Protected Access 2™ (WPA-2) and WPA™ support in wireless Ethernet applications. Customers using the Nucleus-based products can now utilize the configurable Nucleus 802.11i software to incorporate advanced security features into their wireless client devices.
In addition to advanced security, developers can employ an authentication server such as the Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) to use enterprise-level security features of the Nucleus 802.11i software. They can also set-up passwords for minimal personal-level security like Small Office/Home Office (SOHO).
"Our Nucleus 802.11i software is a full featured, robust solution that resolves security problems in today's wireless Ethernet networks," said Glen Johnson, product marketing manager, embedded systems division, Mentor Graphics. "With this new product, developers can easily add the latest security features and bring secure products to market quickly and easily."
The Nucleus 802.11i software is a station- or client-embedded implementation of the IEEE 802.11 specification. Supporting WPA-2 and WPA, the Nucleus 802.11i software is highly configurable and developers can easily customize it for their particular network application needs.
The Nucleus 802.11i software also supports Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) and Counter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol (CCMP) with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for WPA and IEEE 802.11i encryption. It integrates with the Nucleus 802.1X software to prevent unauthorized access to wireless networks using a pre-shared password or an authentication server. Additionally, the Nucleus 802.11i software enables users to configure IEEE 802.11i specific Pair-wise Master key (PMK) caching support for fast roaming.
The Nucleus 802.11 STA software supports IEEE 802.11i specifications-defined Management Information Base (MIB), which integrates with the Nucleus SNMP software, enabling users to administrate statistics and configurations of enhanced security features.
Pricing and Availability
The Nucleus embedded software is sold in source code format and without royalty fees. Licenses for the Nucleus 802.11i software begin at U.S. $32,985. For more information, please contact Mentor Graphics embedded systems division at 800-468-6853 or embedded_info@mentor.com.
