The ease-of-use and available source code of the Nucleus operating system allowed Ionics to meet the aggressive TTM schedules for their innovative line of TOC analyzers.
“We chose Mentor Graphics' Nucleus RTOS because it was the best fit for the demanding technical requirements for our Sievers 900 Series Analyzers. Nucleus RTOS, which came with source code, was very easy to use and helped us meet our aggressive time-to-market schedules.”

Nucleus RTOS Chosen for the Sievers® 900 Series TOC Analyzers From Ionics Instruments
Developers at Ionics Instruments needed a reliable and robust embedded kernel from a proven company in the embedded industry. The flexible and scalable Nucleus RTOS kernel could be scaled down to as small as 14KB, including both code and data sizes, for the MPC68332 processor. Developers were pleased to find that Nucleus RTOS already supported the MPC68332 processor--their existing hardware.
Nucleus RTOS also had a successful reputation for being the foundation for embedded applications ranging from medical devices and industrial controls to consumer electronics and telecommunications devices. Other enticing features of the Nucleus software package included the open and well-documented source code and flexible business model.
The Sievers 900

The 900 Series Analyzers are used for general total organic carbon (TOC) monitoring in pharmaceutical, municipal, semiconductor and power applications. Unlike many competitive analyzers that use technologies such as non-dispersive infra-red, the 900 Series Analyzers require no external gases or reagents. The new, three-model Sievers 900 Series includes the 900 Laboratory, 900 On-Line and 900 Portable TOC Analyzers, offering improved analytical performance, ease of use, productivity and reliability.
