Description
The Board Station suite of PCB design tools provides the most comprehensive technology available for board design. You will examine every step of the design process in lectures; including schematic packaging, component placement, interconnect routing and manufacturing data generation. Lab exercises provide you with hands-on tool usage experience under the guidance of our industry-expert instructors reinforcing the design process steps covered in the lecture. You will learn how to
- Create a board outline geometry
- Create and edit mapping and catalog files to control packaging of logic symbols into components
- Package a PCB design automatically and interactively
- Setup design rules for automatic clearance checking
- Use placement tools to automatically or interactively place components on a board
- Use routing tools to complete route trace connections
- Create filled or hatched copper areas, split power planes, and thieving
- Create the data necessary to manufacture the board including: artwork, and drilling data; and fabrication and assembly drawings
Hands-On Labs
Throughout this course, extensive hands-on lab exercises provide you with practical experience in using Board Station under the guidance of our expert instructors. Hands-on lab topics include:
- Adding schematic properties to control component placement in layout
- Building a board outline geometry
- Packaging the board design
- Placing components on a board using various interactive and automatic techniques
- Setting PCB design rules including rules for layers and clearances
- Routing net connections interactively
- Creating copper areas for power and ground planes
- Generating artwork, drill and mill data
- Creating fabrication and assembly drawings
- Creating a bill of materials
