Optimizing Shop Floor Build Schedules

Overview

Planning a shop-floor is not a new challenge. For the vast majority of SMT manufacturers however, it remains a critical area of improvement opportunity. Planning the SMT operation is performed by people regarded as having “god-like” powers balancing the needs and opportunities of the business with the specific constraints of materials and resources. The complexity specific to SMD manufacturing means little or no real support from traditional ERP or even dedicated scheduling software.

The effect of the scheduling limitations is felt painfully on the shop-floor, where resources are often stretched to breaking point coping with the roller-coaster demands as the reality of the progress of manufacturing unfolds. Then comes the additional hit of the changing customer requirements.

What You Will Learn

  • In this webinar you will gain an understanding of the critical nature of factors influencing the ideal resource constrained scheduling process, how this ideal is nearly impossible to achieve without some very special tools that manage and track resources and materials in sync with direct manufacturing real-time operations.
