Abstract
SMT Process Engineering demonstration of analyzing the SMT product for manufacturability and testability. Utilizes the accurate geometric component shapes and attributes from the VPL. Component geometries are overlaid on the CAD designed component footprints of the PCB, with careful analysis based on an extensive matrix of rules that define the degree of acceptance for manufacturing issues like pin-to-pad spacing, component placement, test points, test coverage, component spacing, use of solder mask and silk screen, to name only a few.
