Valor MSS Line Executive from Mentor Graphics Wins 2011 Global Technology Award
PRODUCTRONICA, Munich, Germany, November 16, 2011 — Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that it has received the Global SMT magazine Global Technology Award for the Valor® MSS Line Executive (LX) product.
The Line Executive product is an essential planning tool to help manufacturers maximize schedule performance and reduce line down time for any high mix, or ultra high mix, electronics assembly manufacturer. The core feature is an extremely fast grouping engine that uses part commonalities, production quantities per work order, scheduled priorities and line/station configurations to determine optimum schedules and mix.
The rate of on-time delivery and the duration of time from order to fulfillment are two of the most critical key performance indicators (KPIs) for the success of a manufacturing operation. The Mentor Graphics® Line Executive product delivers one solution that can solve both of these problems at the same time.
Line Executive determines and reports problems in advance, making LX the ideal solution for “what if” scenarios. The technology streamlines the manufacturing process by predicting the impact from changing equipment, shift schedules, head count or job priorities, as well as comparing different strategies and making last minute changes to a schedule.
“The Line Executive solution also enables us to consolidate our production planning process by instantly grouping any quantity of work orders based on the finite capacity of the line, including any static feeder setups already in place,” said Stefan Schnake, Manufacturing Process Support, Phoenix Contact Electronics GmbH, Bad Pyrmont, Germany.
The NPI award premiered in 2005 and recognizes the best-in-class innovations in the printed circuit assembly and packaging industries during the previous year. The awards, presented at Productronica, promote best practice in key areas and are judged by an independent panel of industry experts on criteria of innovation, speed/throughput improvements, quality contribution, cost benefits, environmental consideration, ease-of-use, implementation, and maintainability/reparability.
“We are honored to accept the Global Technology Award for our Line Executive software which provides innovative technology designed to enhance a company’s ability to better schedule their production across all factory lines,” stated Stefan Haefele, European regional business manager of the Valor Division of Mentor Graphics. “The time saved in production will positively affect productivity, reduce costs, and decrease time-to-market windows to help companies become more profitable. This is the third year in a row that Valor has been recognized by Global SMT magazine for its inventive software technologies.
