Capital AVAssist Logic

Generation of Wiring diagrams & Connectivity

Capital AVAssist Logic (CAVAL) is an “AutoView” product that aids in the generation of diagrams from CHS design connectivity for Capital Logic (CL). CAVAL utilizes attribute/property and layout style preferences to alter the aesthetic appearance or diagrams being generated and has an optional capability to filter connectivity to facilitate interactive pagination.

Although CAVAL is not a required product offering it is essential for any customer that would like to generate diagrams directly from connectivity. CHS supports the import of connectivity through a CHS configured project XML files. CAVAL takes the connectivity once it has been stored as valid Capital Logic designs, and can bulk generate a diagram for each design. So, CAVAL provides a solution for companies looking to import pre-partitioned designs into CHS, and have diagrams generated for them in concert.

Alternatively, customers may want to import large design connectivity into CHS, and interactively paginate or distribute connectivity onto multiple diagrams. CAVAL provides this capability by providing a filtering option to allow the user a flexible method of distributing connectivity by configuration, harness, device or signal.

Today, the generated views are ideal for customers looking to generate simple logical or physical block diagrams but the vision is to continually increate the technology to support high fidelity diagram generation.

The views generated by CAVAL are saved as CL design artifacts and the generated diagrams themselves are in fact CL diagrams. This means that any generated view can be further enriched and edited directly with CL, and managed as normal Capital Logic design artifacts.

Benefits and Features

  • No need to manually generate hundreds or even thousands of logical/physical diagrams. The process is automated.
  • Style preferences drive both attribute/property and layout styling. This means the same data can be generated to different standards which mean engineers can be more productive and spend less time editing diagrams to meet different customer needs.
  • Results of synthesis produce all the required artifacts needed to manage diagrams are part of actual design. Once it is created, it can be locked, archived and managed with the referenced design.
  • A more simple approach for migrating legacy data is available. Instead of migrating diagrammatic information to CHS, only connectivity is needed. This also works well in legacy data is stored within a database.
  • Eliminates manual graphical entry of connectivity data.
  • Provides a method to quickly import and bulk generate large connectivity sets.
  • Provides an interface for interactively paginating and generating new diagrams.
