MCAD & PDM Integration
Integration tools for MCAD systems

Capital provides integration tools for all leading MCAD systems, with support for a variety of end-users.
Capital provides deep integration with leading MCAD systems - more than a simple file exchange process, Capital provides designers with precise control of each attribute of the data as it flows between systems. Capital allows companies to specify ownership of each aspect of the data – for example, wire length is defined by MCAD, wire color is defined by harness designer; and, once specified, the Capital/MCAD interface controls all data flows, allowing designers to work concurrently and without risk of introducing errors caused by accidental modification of data in one system or the other.
For harness designers, Capital provides powerful harness flattening capabilities that intelligently flatten and unfold complex 3D harness networks into 2D branch layouts ready for detailing. Grommets, clips and other mechanical parts are transferred as well as connector-clocking and orientation
All MCAD interfaces support the incremental change process using a Change Manager that provides precise control, of data exchange, including diagnosis, selection, and application of incoming changes—simplifying and automating the task of change management
Capital MCAD interfaces are provided for:
- Capital Logic wiring designers
- Capital Topology wiring layout designers
- Capital Integrator harness layout designers
- Capital Harness XC harness designers
- Capital Modular XC harness designers
- Supported MCAD tools include CATIA, Siemens NX and Pro/ENGINEER
Highlights
Capital Logic Wiring Designers
Send wiring definitions to MCAD; get routed wire lengths from MCAD; cross probe signals in Capital and check routing in MCAD.
Capital Topology Wiring Layout Designers
Get 3D harness layouts from MCAD to provide precisely dimensioned cable routing networks.
Capital Integrator Harness Layout Designers
Get 3D harness designs from MCAD and use Capital to flatten the harness to provide the branch layout.
Capital HarnessXC Harness Designers
Get 3D harness designs from MCAD; use Capital to flatten the harness to provide the branch layout; exchange wires, connectors and mechanical parts between systems.
Capital Modular MC Harness Designers
Get 3D harness designs from MCAD; use Capital to flatten the harness to provide the branch layout; exchange wires, connectors and mechanical parts between systems.
PDM Integration
Capital provides integration with PDM systems via out-of-the-box tools or via web-services customization—these can be used to control the release and design management process from the PDM system.
