Managing the Complexity of Automotive EE Design the STANDARDS Way! From AUTOSAR to GENIVI, ISO to SAE - Challenges, Trends and Observations
Technology Overview
Abstract
Recent advances in electronics enable vehicle OEMs to offer a wide variety of services and conveniences that customers not only appreciate but expect, such as electronic fuel injection and popular GPS, and enable connections between electrical systems never seen before. A car can now be wirelessly connected to other cars, communication infrastructure, mobile devices, and the electrical grid. With this complex connectivity, a vehicle’s electronic environment must work safely and reliably as well as offer the performance accepted by the customer. Without proper standards in place, such harmony is not possible.
This presentation examines various ways SAE International assists the industry and government in developing high-value global standards. It also looks at the international map of standards development, comparing various activities of organizations such as ISO, IEC, AUTOSAR, and the GENIVI consortia.
