Mercury - Wireless Intercom

"We received excellent technical support from Mentor Graphics. I base that comment on the prompt and accurate response received from technical support over the past 3 to 4 years of development with Nucleus products," said Phil Luke, development manager at Trilogy Broadcast. "That support, combined with the source code, royalty-free licensing model and the rich features of the Nucleus RTOS, has made our Mercury system a success in the broadcast media industry." --Phil Luke, development manager, Trilogy Broadcast

Trilogy Broadcast Ltd. Chooses Nucleus RTOS for Mercury System VoIP-Based Solution

undefinedTrilogy Broadcast Ltd. is a world-class provider of infrastructure equipment for media companies in more than 30 countries. Trilogy equipment is used by the top names in broadcasting for news, sports and entertainment programming, including Olympics, F1 motor sport and many more. Trilogy's product solutions have always focused on providing both excellent functionality and ergonomic user interface, and this philosophy is being maintained as the company introduces more software-based solutions.

Mercury

The Mercury system offers a totally fresh approach to intercom solutions based on VoIP technology. This technology allows all elements of the Mercury system (including software and hardware operator panels, multiple I/O interface units for balanced audio, telephony interfaces and software database management packages) to interconnect over a standard Ethernet. Mercury provides bi-directional audio communication in an IP environment. It offers near instant connection across LAN and WAN configurations with "one touch" operation of hardware or virtual panels. A unique feature of Mercury is its ability to provide true multi member conferences (party lines) between members of a Mercury enterprise. In a simple, offline environment, Mercury-enabled PCs can provide intercom functionality, while being used for other tasks as well.

Trilogy's Selection of Nucleus for Mercury

Developers at Trilogy chose the Nucleus real-time operating system (RTOS) because of its robust and reliable features combined with a royalty-free licensing model. The complex features of VoIP technology required the Nucleus RTOS to be highly optimized and fully scalable.

Besides the Nucleus PLUS kernel, the basis for the Nucleus family of products, Trilogy developers used the Nucleus NET TCP/IP protocol networking stack and the Nucleus Ethernet driver to build the Mercury system.

In addition to an impressive RTOS provided with well-documented source code, Trilogy developers also based their RTOS selection on the proven reputation of Mentor Graphics and the quality of technical support. Mentor Graphics' is the only 5-time recipient of the Software Technical Assistance Recognition (STAR) Award for technical support excellence and the only support provider with global support center practices certified by the Support Center Practices (SCP).
