Platform-Based Design
Platform-based design is an IP Reuse strategy that facilitates the creation and verification of designs containing sophisticated IP from many different sources. Platform-based design provides rapid creation and verification of SoC designs by automating complex, tedious, and error-prone design creation, IP integration, and verification steps. By automating the non-differentiated design, design resources can devote their time to value-added design.
Mentor Graphics played a pioneering role in developing the IP-XACT specification provided by The SPIRIT Consortium by donating the base schema for the spec. Platform Express was the first platform-based design solution to support the IP-XACT specification.
Highlights
- Platform Express lets SoC designers move quickly through the processor-centric portions of design. As the designer creates a platform-based SoC from the available components, Platform Express assembles the hardware and the software environment for design verification.
- Platform Express provides a flexible, open environment that is geared for developers of platforms, other IP and tools, giving SoC designers a breadth of choices of design content and verification tools.
- Platform Express allows embedded SoC subsystems to create and verify in minutes. For the very first time, designers can exploit the full potential of Platform Based Design.
