"Nucleus PLUS and Nucleus NET are powerful, easy to use and rock solid. The technical support is first rate and went beyond the call of duty to solve a problem we had. I can recommend the product without hesitation."
--Jim Sorensen, Vice President of R&D, InfoGraphic Systems.
InfoGraphic Systems chooses Nucleus for ACU Networked Intelligent Controller
Headquartered in Garden Grove, California, InfoGraphic Systems has been manufacturing access control and security products since 1978. By developing all of their own software and hardware and manufacturing all of their own products, the company has become the most unique amongst access control suppliers.
Electronic Access Control
Electronic access control provides computerized security to a particular entry area. Reliable control over who is allowed to pass through a particular entry at a particular time can reduce a company's risk and liability. Access control protects employees by keeping unauthorized people out of buildings. Equipment remains safe, electronically locked behind doors with only authorized personnel allowed near it.
The ACU2XL is a fully intelligent control unit, capable of making all normal access and alarm processing decisions in the field. This new controller from InfoGraphic Systems has built-in LAN support which allows it to communicate directly over LANs, WANs, Fiber, Dial-Up Modems and RS-232 or RS-485 networks. The direct LAN or WAN connections to the ACU panel allow extremely fast downloads of database information from servers.
InfoGraphic Systems Selects their RTOS
Developers at InfoGraphic Systems selected the Nucleus PLUS kernel and Nucleus NET TCP/IP protocol stack for their ACU controller based on the products' robust, userfriendly features. Jim Sorensen, Vice President of R & D at InfoGraphic Systems said, "Nucleus PLUS and Nucleus NET are powerful, easy to use and rock solid."
Developers used the Motorola ColdFire 5307 processor, along with Nucleus, to design and build the ACU Networked Intelligent Controller.
In addition to a superb product, Mr. Sorensen was impressed with Mentor Graphics' exceptional technical support staff. "The technical support is first rate and went beyond the call of duty to solve a problem we had," he commented. Mentor guarantees an immediate response, usually within 12 hours, to all calls received by the technical support department.
Implementation of Nucleus for the ACU2XL intelligent controller began in August 1999 and the product began shipping in August 2000. When asked about the satisfaction of working with Nucleus, Mr. Sorensen said, "I can recommend the product without hesitation." Developers at InfoGraphic Systems plan to continue using Nucleus in future controller units.
