Debugging with ModelSim Seminar

Seminar

There are currently no dates scheduled for this event.

Overview

Learn about the NEW ModelSim product (ModelSim DE) that works with Windows or Linux. ModelSim DE is positioned between ModelSim PE and ModelSim SE with full debug capability and assertions. This seminar will cover the debug capabilities of ModelSim SE/DE/PE and assertion capabilities of ModelSim DE.

With any software product we all get used to using a set of capabilities and often don't explore outside boundaries as the tool is enhanced and improved. ModelSim as the standard FPGA’s HDL simulator on the market has many loyal users who may not be aware of all that ModelSim can do today. ModelSim is enhanced and more capabilities are added every year. This seminar is aimed at providing ModelSim users with a number of tips on how to most efficiently use ModelSim.

What You Will Learn

  • How to Manage windows to get the most out of debug
  • How to compare simulation results to expose issues between rev's of a design
  • How to track issues through a design to their source
  • How to use the Code Coverage to get a clear picture of what code has been exercised and decide when you've simulated enough
  • Why assertions can reduce debug time and are important for reuse
  • How to use the assertion debug feature
  • How to get support and find answers to questions
