MediaTek, Inc. Adopts Mentor Graphics Clock-Domain Crossing Methodology for Digital Media Integrated Chipsets

WILSONVILLE, Ore., August 8, 2006 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that MediaTek, Inc. (TAIEX: 2454), one of the world's largest fabless integrated circuit (IC) companies, has selected the 0-In® Clock-Domain Crossing (CDC) solution for its verification methodology. By using the Mentor Graphics® 0-In CDC solutions in the RTL model, MediaTek can identify CDC problems in RTL, thereby avoiding potential costly respins and project delays.

MediaTek's complex multimedia designs contain a large number of clock-domain crossing signals - any one of which can cause intermittent functional problems in hardware. Using 0-In CDC allows them to deliver higher quality products to their customers and shorten their overall design cycle.

"MediaTek understands the importance of comprehensive CDC verification. They must have predictability in their product development process and clear, quality metrics," said Steven D. White, general manager of Mentor Graphics 0-In functional verification business unit. "0-In CDC helps eliminate the risk typically associated with verifying CDC circuitry in complex SoC designs."

MediaTek selected 0-In CDC because the technology validates the proper implementation CDC circuitry, including structured synchronization, CDC transfer protocols, and combinational and sequential signal reconvergence.

The 0-In CDC solution provides the flexibility to verify CDC handling from block-level through full-chip verification. In addition, the debugging of the CDC problems can be done in an integrated GUI environment.
