Mentor Graphics Announces New Benchmark for First Year Product Success with Calibre OPCverify

WILSONVILLE, Ore., September 19, 2006 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced it has achieved a record level of success for a new product introduction with the Calibre® OPCverify product. After production release just 10 months ago, the product has already achieved significant market penetration with over $10 million in product revenue, a record for a new product introduction for the company.

Calibre OPCverify, which uses silicon-proven simulation models from Calibre OPCpro, is the next generation of RET verification, providing 100 percent simulation coverage of the entire chip to ensure silicon-patterning success. The Calibre OPCverify dense simulation engine accounts for the effects of process variability using patented algorithms that define the conditions (dose, focus) that adversely impact pattern transfer. All Calibre OPCverify modeling capabilities have been thoroughly characterized for the most advanced process conditions in production, including immersion lithography. The rigorous model development and verification methodology used for the Calibre OPCverify tool allows it to satisfy the stringent requirements for both RET recipe validation and production mask verification.

“Calibre OPCverify represented a significant new product development for the company and constituted both a new architecture for our products in semiconductor manufacturing and an increasingly critical problem area for our customers,” said Joe Sawicki, vice president and general manager for the design-to-silicon division at Mentor Graphics. “Though we are certainly pleased with the economic impact of this level of adoption, we are even more pleased with the validation this provides of our strategy to deliver a complete platform focused on the critical issues of transferring a design to silicon in nanometer technologies.”

"Internal development is central to the strategy for growth at Mentor Graphics,” said Walden C. Rhines, Chairman and CEO, Mentor Graphics Corp. “The first generation of Calibre for physical verification is a great example of what such internal development can do for a company. We are particularly pleased to see one of the third generation Calibre tools hit such an aggressive first year number.”
