Mentor Graphics AMS Technology Design Kit Based on PolarFab Process Technology

PolarFab

Mentor’s Technology Design Kit (TDK) is a comprehensive and proven set of building blocks that enable semiconductor companies and electronic systems manufacturers to jump-start their design cycles using Polar Semiconductor's foundry process and Mentor's analog/mixed-signal (AMS) IC flow together. The design kit cuts time-to-market and ensures manufacturing success for analog and mixed-signal ICs and systems-on-chip (SoCs).

Mentor Graphics and Polar Semiconductor have teamed to develop TDKs for popular Polar manufacturing processes starting first with PBC4 0.5 mm BiCMOS/DMOS 1P3M 5V-40V process. These AMS TDKs include all the foundry-specific data files and models for use with the Mentor Graphics integrated IC Flow comprised of the following tools: Design Architect-IC for schematic entry, Eldo and ADMS for analog and mixed-signal simulation, IC Station and ICassemble for schematic-driven layout and chip assembly, Calibre for DRC/LVS verification and Calibre xRC for parasitic extraction.

The Polar-Mentor TDK contains all the necessary design building blocks used by the tightly integrated set of Mentor tools to provide a complete end-to-end solution for design capture (schematic or netlist), functional verification, physical layout automations such as parameterized device layout generators, floor planning, placement and routing, physical verification (DRC and LVS), parasitic extraction, and post-layout verification (parasitic back-annotation to the schematic, and simulation).

  • Digital cell libraries
  • Available on 150 mm and 200 mm (6" and 8") wafers

TDK Offerings:

The PBC4 process is a versatile BCD process technology that integrates dense 0.5 µm CMOS with high-voltage drivers. The process is ideal for fabricating complex power management and smart-power chips over a wide voltage range (5V to 40V), including motor controllers, gate drivers and microprocessor supervisory circuits for consumer electronics, communications, automotive and other analog and mixed-signal applications

TDK Components:

  • Design Architect-IC Symbols with predefined properties for Eldo simulation and SDL and LVS.
  • Userware to customize the library palettes listing the available components each component.
  • Open Source Code on all components of the design kit, which provide customers the flexibility to further extend or customize the kit.

TDK Documentation:

  • Release_notes - Unique requirements for the specific design kit and revision history. This file documents which specific Eldo models and DRC/LVS files were used to validate the design kit.
  • Installation_Guide - Brief description of design kit contents and installation procedure.
  • Library_Specification.pdf - List of components included in the design kit describing the menu name and associated model names and properties.
  • Users_Guide.pdf - Users guide and tutorial.

Software Tool Requirements:

  • Design Architect-IC (IC Flow 2001.2) version 8.9_4.1 or greater. (To check the version, enter the da_ic -ver command.)
  • Eldo version 5.5_1.1 or greater (To check the version, enter the $anacad/bin/eldo - rel command.)
