Mentor Graphics Offers a Series of Technology Design Kits based on TSMC technology Nodes

TSMC

To help companies jump-start their design cycles and cut time-to-market, Mentor Graphics is partnering with TSMC to develop a series of analog mixed-signal and logic design kits. These kits include all the TSMC-specific data files and models for use with the Mentor Graphics front- and back-end IC design tools. Available for no charge for TSMC customers, these kits enable the entire design workflow to be supported by TSMC-specific processes. The design kits contain customizable, easily expandable building blocks for schematic capture, simulation, physical layout and verification, which create a complete, integrated IC design environment tailored to a variety of TSMC process technologies to be used for specific custom design needs.

Technology design kits are a fundamental part of the complete, fully-integrated Mentor Graphics custom IC design flow. By providing the building blocks for design capture, simulation, layout and verification, Mentor Graphics' technology design kits eliminate the difficult and time-consuming task of setting up a design environment tailored to a foundry-specific process technology.

What will I receive?
The customer will receive a self-extracting tar file containing:

  • Design Architect-IC symbols with predefined properties for Eldo simulation and SDL and LVS.
  • Userware to customize the library palettes listing the available components
  • Userware, Process Definition file (PDF), layout and device generators as required for each component
  • Documentation:
    • Release_notes - Unique requirements for the specific design kit and revision history. This file documents which specific Eldo models and DRC/LVS files were used to validate the design kit.
    • Installation_Guide - Brief description of design kit contents and installation procedure
    • Library_Specification.pdf - List of Components included in the design kit describing the menu name and associated model names and properties.
    • Users_Guide.pdf - User's guide and tutorial

Note: The symbols created were based on the defined subcircuits and models for Eldo. The design kits are for mixed-signal/analog/RF design and typically contain MOS devices, resistors, capacitors, npn's, diodes, varactors (RF) and inductors (RF). The Mentor Graphics AMS Design Kits do not contain any digital components such as AND gates.

What else is needed?
Software Tool Requirements:

  • Design Architect-IC (IC Flow 2001.2) version 8.9_4.1 or greater. To check the version, enter the command da_ic -ver.
  • Eldo version 5.5_1.1 or greater. To check the version, enter the command $anacad/bin/eldo - rel.
  • ICgraph version (IC Flow 2001.2) 8.9_3.1 or greater. To check the version, enter the command ic -ver.

Who do I call if there are any issues?
Mentor Graphics Customer support is available to answer technical tool related calls. Customer support will determine where the issue needs to go for resolution. If the issue is related to Mentor Graphics tools or design kits, the Mentor Graphics development team will resolve the issue. If the issue is related to a foundry-supplied Eldo model, Calibre DRC or LVS deck Mentor Graphics will work with the foundry to make sure the issue is resolved.
