Mentor Graphics Calibre PERC Named Product of the Year by Electronic Products Magazine
Calibre PERC Garners Award for Innovative Advancements in Electrical Rule Checking
WILSONVILLE, Ore., January 12, 2010 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced it was honored with an Electronic Products’ Product of the Year award for its Calibre® PERC. This solution directly addresses two key requirements for electrical rule checking that are currently unmet needs in the industry. The first is ensuring that designers have met all electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection rules, which is critical to the robustness of designs in portable and high-reliability applications. The other is being able to verify the integrity of low power designs that have multiple power domains. Calibre PERC removes the burden of electrical rule checking from designers, and it can be programmed to meet these general concerns as well as address unique customer requirements.
Jim Harrison, West Coast Editor for Electronic Products magazine said, “We felt the Programmable Electrical Rule Checker provided SoC designers with a significant new tool to address reliability challenges with a solution that tackles circuit verification both geometrically and electrically. The tool’s programmable electrical rules checking provides a unique flexibility that can greatly reduce time required for verification.”
The editors of Electronic Products—a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers—evaluated thousands of products launched in 2009. The winning products are selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application, and substantial achievement in price and performance. The Calibre PERC product demonstrated success in improving the reliability of ICs by enabling extremely flexible electrical rule checking based on both circuit design (netlist) and layout geometry information.
The 2009 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the January 2010 issue of Electronic Products with a cover feature and a brief description of each product. Additionally, the winning products appear on Electronic Products’ website. 2009 marks the 34th annual Electronic Products’ “Product of the Year” Awards, which began recognizing the best products in the industry in 1977.
