Although the next big thing may seem unique and innovative, new products are often the evolution of current technology. In fact, in EDA, a revolution in technology often means a disruption of established work flows. Yet, the source of most innovation in EDA is the start-up company developing the revolutionary tool. This is how most big EDA companies acquire their new technologies. Unfortunately, revolutionary technologies prevent or slow down integration into the flow. Requiring a disruption to the flow, however, often results in missing the project schedule. |
