Today’s complex IC designs feature more gates, tighter constraints, and shorter design cycles -- which increases the need for designers to implement a fully integrated subsystem IP. A type of subsystem that’s silicon proven multiple times over. The goal of Mentor’s IP Division is to offer exactly that -- a complete IP subsystem available in the standards-based connectivity space.

Mentor is proud to offer the industry’s first ever, fully integrated, single-vendor USB Subsystem IP. The Mentor subsystem includes a USB-IF Logo compliant Multi-Mode USB controller (MUSBMHDRC) that supports USB 2.0 Embedded Host, Dual-role, On-the-Go (OTG), and device functionality. Also included as part of the USB IP subsystem is a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed PHY (MUSBHPHY), and has two software options for different design requirements:

  • A micro-software component optimized for tiny footprint embedded applications (MUSB-MicroSW)
  • A more fully featured Nucleus USB software option based on the Nucleus RTOS.

All the components of the Mentor USB Subsystem IP are silicon verified and USB-IF certified to deliver a high quality, low-risk solution for customers who use complex USB SoC designs.
