Dynamic Analysis of Aircraft Refueling Systems using Flowmaster

ABSTRACT
Aerial refueling of military aircraft is a procedure fraught with many potential hazards and as such requires a great deal of precision, both on the part of the operator and on the part of the designer. Also today’s fluid flow systems are becoming more and more sophisticated. From an analytical perspective, branched networks (even under steady state conditions) represent an increase in the difficulty of computation of the flows and pressures in the network. The difficulty arises because the flow in each branch of the network is not known a priori, as is the case with non-branched networks. The flows and pressures throughout the network must be solved simultaneously. This whitepaper discusses how such a system can be designed and simulated with Flowmaster.
