HyperLynx SI and PI Seminar

Seminar

There are currently no dates scheduled for this event.

Overview

The morning session begins with a brief overview of basic signal integrity analysis using HyperLynx 8.0 simulations. Focus will be on both “classic” SI analysis and high-speed SI analysis. An update of new features and capabilities of the HL 8.0 release will be emphasized and demonstrated using the new DDRx Wizard. The DDRx Wizard in HL 8.0 supports validation of both DDR2 and DDR3; the most common memory interfaces in the industry today. A discussion of the complexities and challenges of validating this interface will include topics such as On-Die-Termination, signal de-rating, fly-by-architecture and READ/WRITE signal leveling. We will walk through the setup of the DDRx Wizard in HyperLynx 8.0 and run simulations to validate the DDRx memory interface.

What You Will Learn

  • The afternoon session will focus on power integrity analysis of a PCB featuring Mentor Graphics’ newly released HyperLynx PI. We will discuss DC drop analysis, decoupling and plane noise analysis. As part of the discussion there will be product demonstrations and examples provided.
  • Avnet will provide an update of the Xilinx FPGA families including an overview of the Spartan-6. A presentation will also be given on the HyperLynx Design Kits available from Mentor and Xilinx.

Presenter Image Ernie Frohring

Ernie joined Trilogic, Inc, a leader in design automation software sales and support, in 1994 after a 20 year career in electronic design and instrumentation, specializing in emulators and logic analyzers. Since then he has leveraged his knowledge of hardware instrumentation to become experienced in the software tools used for electronic design. He has worked with various PCB layout, schematic capture, analog simulation, and signal integrity analysis tools, and is especially interested in the integration of these tools into a design environment. He currently specializes in high speed design, teaching classes, doing presentations, and working one-on-one with customers using the EDA tools from Mentor Graphics. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973 with Bachelors & Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering. His hobbies include chasing Total Solar Eclipses to interesting parts of the world.

Who Should Attend

  • Engineers and managers involved in high-speed system design -- particularly in rapid prototyping environments where return on tool investment is critical.
  • Also, anyone concerned about high-speed design -- even if you're not a signal integrity expert.
  • Current HyperLynx customers who want to learn about our newest release, v8.0 and HyperLynx for Power Integrity Design and Verification Engineers.
