PADS High-speed Routing
Two options for routing high-speed designs: PADS AutoRouter HSD and PADS Router HSD. PADS AutoRouter HSD is a superset of automatic and interactive highspeed routing capabilities. PADS Router HSD is a subset of tools specialized for interactive high-speed routing. Both enable you to route length-constrained nets anywhere in the rules hierarchy
For example, net rules can be assigned at the default, net, or class level, and pin-pair rules can be assigned at the group and pin-pair level. Matched-length rules can be set at the net, class, group, or pin-pair level.
PADS Autorouter HDS
- Adds automatic/batch high-speed signal routing capabilities to PADS AutoRouter
- Includes PADS Router HSD
PADS Router HSD

- Adds interactive high-speed signal routing capabilities to PADS Router
- Enables interactive routing of differential pairs, matched-length, and min/max length nets
- Routes length-constrained nets anywhere in the rules hierarchy
- Manages constraints associated with high-speed traces
- Sets and protects net topologies
- Controls an array of options for routing differential pairs
- Respects class-to-class, pair-to-pair, and pair-to-other preferences
- Adheres to component pin rules during interactive routing
- Inserts accordion patterns for increased interconnect length
- Enables diagonal (135°) routing to eliminate impedance changes caused by sharp corners
Advanced Rule Set
Both high-speed routing tools require the Advanced Rule Set.
- Enables easy definition of advanced rules, including rules for impedance matching (layer-controlled routing and width requirements)
- Allows hierarchical rules definition (class, pin-pair, group, and conditional)
- Defines component pin clearance and routing rules for interactive or batch-mode use
- Defines rules for min/max, matched-length, and differential pairs
- Checks all constraints during online and batch DRC
NOTE: The Advanced Rule Set (ARS) is required for PADS Router HSD and PADS AutoRouter HSD. This option replaces the EDC and ERS options supported by earlier versions of PADS Layout.
