Discussion Forums

PADS offers two discussion forums in which customers can discuss problems, ask questions, and share tips with other users. These forums are great places to exchange ideas and communicate freely about the software solution in which you've invested.

DxDesigner
NOTE: The DxDesigner forum is a free Yahoo group so, unlike the PADS listserver, advertisements do appear on this site.

PADS Layout / PADS Logic
There are three ways to interact with the PADS Listserver:

The PADS listserver is free from advertisements, and membership lists are never shared with other companies. You will not receive Mentor email due to participation in a PADS forum.

Via the Web
A user-friendly web interface makes it easy to manage listserver communications. Subscribe, unsubscribe, change your mail status, and read mail all from http://listserver.pads.com/read/.

To read mail
Simply go to the link above. When the page displays, click on "talk" in the Name column. It will show the last ten message threads. If you want to see additional threads, click on Next or Show more.

To subscribe
When you click on the link shown above, you will see the name of the list (talk). On the right side, you'll see the word "subscribe". Simply click on it and fill out the form. An email will be sent to the address you entered. When you receive the email, reply and you will be subscribed to the list.

To unsubscribe
Go to the link above and click on the "My Forums" tab. When prompted, enter your email address. On the following screen, click on the word "unsubscribe" shown on the right.

To change mailing status
Occasionally you may want to change from being a normal member to having "no mail" status, or to receiving messages via digest. Go to the link above and click on the "My Account" tab. Enter your email address and click on the OK button. From the next window, click on the arrow next to "Membership type." This will display the options available.

Problems with the listserver?

Optional commands

  • Send these to: lyris@listserver.pads.com
    • To receive a daily digest with all of the messages of the day, type: set talk digest in the body of your email.
    • To receive a daily index of the subject lines, type: set talk index in the body of your email.
    • To search for previous postings using key words, type: search talk [search words] in the body of your email.
    • To change your email address, type: set talk email=(your new e-mail address) in the body of the email.
    • To discontinue receiving email but to stay subscribed, type: set talk nomail in the body of your email.
    • To resume receiving email, type: set talk mail in the body of your email.

Via News Reader

  • Send an email to: lyris@listserver.pads.com
  • In the body of the email, type: set talk nomail
  • Access the "talk" news group at news://listserver.pads.com/
  • Internet Explorer:
    • Go to Newsgroups
    • Choose "Talk" > "Subscribe" > "Ok"
    • Upon returning to the main window, double-click on "talk" and you are ready to use the "talk" news group once the info is downloaded
  • Netscape Navigator:
    • Choose the "Subscribe" Icon
    • Choose "Talk" > "Subscribe" > "Ok"
    • Upon returning to the main window, double-click on "talk" and you are ready to use the "talk" news group once the info is downloaded
