Traditional designs completed in the 1990's required less complex software to use than the designs being completed today. These designs were usually finished on individual tools and passed from one technical expert to the next. This process worked fine until the designs became so complex that it was necessary to pass additional design critical information along with the database in order to better expedite its completion and meet the ever challenging "time to market" design schedules.
