System Modeling

Full System Integration

True system modeling provides an interactive environment in which designers can verify their specific part of an overall puzzle, a puzzle in which any small change can affect the final outcome. “What-if” tradeoffs can be made, performance as a function of component tolerances can be determined, and many other analyses can be performed.

Mentor's SystemVision and BridgePoint products successfully address the requirements for system modeling in the transportation, aerospace, medical and other industries.

The system model can be used to anticipate and fix design issues before actual hardware is built. Designers can discover unanticipated systemic interactions in the prototyping and production phases of the design process.

Virtualized Integration

System integration no longer requires all of the components to be available. Virtual system integration can take place at the time of system requirements definition or during preliminary or detailed design, allowing critical problems to be uncovered well before final system integration.

  • Inter-discipline modeling (HW/SW/Sensor/Actuator/Plant) facilitates global optimization
  • Modeling facilitates moving platform SW/HW integration earlier in the design cycle, reducing schedule risk
  • Synthesis (code generation) facilitates more design options, leading to better performance and/or lower cost

Design Tasks

Model Driven Development

Model-driven development provides a structure for managing complexity while, at each design stage, making it possible to directly link design functionality back to original requirements and functional specifications.

System Integration, Simulation and Analysis

Using specialized algorithms to analyze a model of a system, simulation provides the ability to successively verify new designs from concept to implementation.
