Motion Control Systems

Motion control systems require tools that can accurately represent mixed-technology (multi-domain) designs as well as digital and mixed-signal circuits. With the proliferation of software-based controllers, these tools must also be able to work directly in the Z-domain and simulate with actual software algorithms embedded in the design.
Part 1 of the motion control example illustrates how to design and analyze a field-oriented control-based (vector control) velocity controller using SystemVision and the VHDL-AMS modeling language. The actual modeling of an induction motor is emphasized in this section.
Part 2 of the motion control example illustrates how to re-implement the entire controller discretely in the Z-domain and eventually code and test it using the C programming language.
