Aerospace customers must have designs that can be proven to meet their requirements. This presentation introduces AeroQ, a new aerospace product specifically engineered to profile existing networks and characterize their behavior. It supports DO-178C certification, is DO-330 compliant, and assists in complying with AC20.156 (aviation databus assurance) certification requirements.
The presentation includes results from a recent tool evaluation that focused on a jet transport aircraft’s CAN network. The CAN (controller area network) bus, which is designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other, is becoming well established in the aerospace industry and is installed on many current airframes. The results of the evaluation using AeroQ, provided by Steve Ford with Esterline CMC Electronics, show that AeroQ can be used successfully to highlight potential issues on a CAN network design and can assist in setting up an initial network design.
