In this paper, we first discuss the verification strategies used today by major corporations. This includes examining the objectives of verification, the organizational structure of the design and verification teams, and how the prevalent methodologies are failing in a number of ways. Then, we examine four basic verification methodologies and how they fit the needs of certain verification scenarios. Finally, we introduce three specific elements of an example verification methodology.
