Course Overview

This DO-254 Compliance Overview course was developed to help you understand the RTCA/DO-254 document and requirements for certification. Understanding the means of compliance to this regulatory document can be the difference between certifying and not certifying your system. It can also dramatically affect the cost associated with compliance.  Thus, getting the right training from industry knowledgeable training staff, prior to embarking on a DO-254 project, is important to achieve successful FAA approval and minimize costs.

This two-day training class, offered and supported by Mentor Graphics, will provide an overview and application of DO-254 as defined by the current FAA guidance.  As part of this course, students will be provided information related to current FAA and EASA guidance on the application of DO-254 in airborne systems.  Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to look at and use the Draft FAA Job Aid for CEH in order to provide examples of the application of DO-254 and to gain clear understanding of the certification objectives.

Delivered by Patmos Engineering Services

About the Presenter:
Tammy Reeve of Patmos Engineering Services, Inc. has been selected to develop the only FAA RTCA/DO-254 training course, aimed at FAA employees and designees, covering the compliance and application of DO-254 for airborne systems certification.  This puts Patmos Engineering Services, Inc. uniquely at the heart of the current regulatory interpretation of this DO-254 document as well as providing an inside view into draft FAA and EASA policy related to DO-254.  Tammy Reeve is a full-time, level A FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) with over 10 yrs experience in review and approval of CEH and over 18 yrs of experience in airborne systems and certification.

You will learn how to

    • Navigate and understand the RTCA/DO-254 document
    • Apply the DO-254 Life Cycle and Supporting Processes
    • Understand the impact of System Safety Assessments and the DAL
    • Set up your project correctly through proper planning
    • Follow the current guidance for your DO-254 project
    • Identify and steer clear of common pitfalls in DO-254 projects

    Audience

Project managers, process managers, design, verification, and quality assurance engineers and their managers who are or will be working on projects requiring DO-254 certification.
